Catholic Charities of Central Florida started a pilot program to serve more families in the southern part of Brevard County on Friday, August 26, 2016. Through a partnership with Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay, case managers from the Family Stability Program will be available twice a month to meet with clients who qualify to provide services such as emergency financial assistance for rent, mortgage and utilities.
“After becoming aware of the need in southern Brevard and Northern Indian River Counties, we have decided to dedicate the resources to be nearer to those who are struggling financially. Our Family Stability Program provides that support system when a person is on the brink of losing their home or their job or other type of crisis and helps them turn their life back on the right path,” said Rosa Reich, program manager, Catholic Charities of Central Florida.
The Family Stability Program also involves identifying what other community resources can assist clients through their situations and budget counseling for long term stability.
Catholic Charities of Central Florida currently serves clients by appointment at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Cocoa Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm.
They also see clients at St. Luke Catholic Church in Barefoot Bay on the fourth Thursday of each month and at the Daily Bread in Melbourne as needed.
Catholic Charities of Central Florida also operates a food pantry Monday-Friday from 9 am to 11 am at Blessed Sacrament in Cocoa. No appointment is necessary but clients need to bring a photo ID and social security card for all members of the household.
