Lakeland Activity Center for Seniors

Who We Are

The Lakeland Activity Center for Seniors promotes health and wellness through nutrition, socialization, activities and education for men and women over 55 to help meet their needs as they age.

You can support our ministry by making a donation or volunteering to teach a class, lead an activity or by donating board games, puzzles, arts and crafts supplies, etc.

We are located at:
1510 Commercial Park Drive
Lakeland, FL 33801

What We Do

We provide opportunities to meet other seniors in the area, become more informed on health issues, and learn about resources available to seniors in the community. In partnership with Polk County Fellowship Dining, we offer weekday lunches to seniors 60 and older. Each week, we offer activities for seniors including:

  • Exercise classes
  • Card games
  • Arts and craft classes
  • Health and educational presentations
  • Occasional day trips and outings
  • Musical entertainment
  • Computer assistance
  • Bingo, two afternoons every week

Mobile Services for Seniors

Our Mobile Services for Seniors is an extension of our services offered at our senior center that provide opportunities for local seniors to meet other seniors in the area, become more informed on health issues and learn about resources available to seniors in the community. Our goal is to help seniors avoid isolation which is dangerous for their health.

“Harvard School of Public Health studies have found that seniors who are less social are more likely to suffer from memory loss and that socializing is as beneficial for their health as exercise. Many of the seniors we serve are widowed, separated/divorced or single – meaning that most live alone, which greatly impacts the factors of isolation.” – Barbara Cage, program manager
