Janette is a single mother of two who recently lost her job and was struggling to keep up with her bills and put food on the table.
She came to Catholic Charities of Central Florida for food assistance where she received a bag of food to feed her family for the next week.
Catholic Charities offers hunger relief services to families in need like Janette’s throughout Central Florida with five food pantries and one food bank. A typical bag of food includes cans of beef stew and chili, pork and beans, tuna, vegetables, oats, rice, macaroni and cheese, pasta and spaghetti sauce, potatoes, shelf-stable milk, cereal and peanut butter.
“I’m so thankful. Without Catholic Charities, my family would not have any food this week. After I take the food home today, I’m going to the library to update my resume for a job fair next week,” said Janette, who hopes to find a job in sales and marketing.
Catholic Charities also provided Janette with a list of community resources that will help connect her with other job opportunities.
The food pantries and food bank at Catholic Charities rely on donations and volunteers to help sort, pack and distribute food.
