“I remember one day I went to Sam’s, and I was wearing this shirt. When I was about to pay, an employee asked if I worked for Catholic Charities. I said, ‘No, but I am a volunteer.’ And she said, ‘Thank you very much for all that you do! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be able to feed my family because I lost my job due to the pandemic, and I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t know what to do.’ She had just gotten this job, and I was so happy! I said, ‘You’re welcome! You know that anytime you need us, we will be there for you.’

God asks us to do this—love your neighbor as yourself. We just see someone that needs our help, and we are here for them. We are like a family.”

Elizabeth has been volunteering with Catholic Charities of Central Florida since June.
