
This interactive curriculum consists of a youth session, designed to empower students to make safe choices online, and a caregiver session, to equip caregivers with resources to protect their children from exploitation. Each session is ~50 minutes, incorporating discussions, case studies, videos, and worksheets to equip participants for practical online safety and human trafficking prevention.

Cyber Street Smarts (Students Grades 6-12)
Students learn:
- How Traffickers use games and apps to find victims
- How traffickers groom minors for exploitation
- How to set “non-negotiables” for safe friendships, relationships, and online experiences
- What to do in a dangerous online conversation
- How to help friends and family be safe online
- How to report and seek help

Not MY Child! (Caregivers)
Caregivers learn:
- The “norms” online life for youth ages 9-17
- How traffickers groom minors for exploitation using social media apps and gaming platforms
- Practical solutions to keep youth safe online
- How to empower youth to make safe choices
- How to report and seek help if a minor is in danger

Note for Catechists: This curriculum, “Cyber Street Smarts,” correlates with the following two Safe Environment lessons from Circle of Grace for grades 9-12: “Tech Savvy or Tech Safe?” and “Human Trafficking: Modern Day Slavery.” Please contact your diocese’s Faith Formation or Director of Safe Environment director to determine how you will utilize this curriculum.
