Pillars Prayer and WorshipPublic Information and EducationPastoral CarePublic Policy About Catholic Charities of Central Florida works to protect all human life from conception to natural death through every ministry. The Culture of Life Office seeks to transform and build a society where every human being is valued and protected. Human life is a precious gift from God; each person who receives this gift has responsibilities to God, self, and others; and society, through its laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence. This is accomplished through the practice of the four pillars set forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB): prayer, education, pastoral care, and public policy efforts. We educate and inspire people throughout the Diocese of Orlando to understand the truth about why and how we are created in God’s image of love as prescribed in Saint John Paul II’s encyclical Evangelium Vitae. In consultation with your parish pastor, the COL chairperson organizes and implements the efforts as called for by the Bishops’ Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities. Building a Culture of Life: Where to Begin? The concluding moments of the Culture of Life video offer a powerful reminder of our Christian vocation to go forth—responding with courage, faith, and a willingness to act. Click here to view a flyer offering practical next steps—presenting a few concrete opportunities to live out this mission. We invite viewers to take time for prayerful reflection and open discussion, creating space to share what inspired them and to discern how they might personally contribute to building a Culture of Life. Diocesan Resources The Culture of Life office has created a digital guide based on this pastoral plan to assist parish leaders in emphasizing Church teachings, fostering dialogue, and motivating action for the transformation of our culture. The guide aims to ensure that all life, from conception to natural death, is protected by law and embraced with love. Whether initiating a Culture of Life (COL) ministry in a parish, taking on the role of a chairperson, or having served in the role for years, this guide offers information and resources to unite and empower COL committees, enabling them to be more effective advocates for human life and dignity. Upcoming Events Join us for the Annual Mass for Life on Friday, January 22, 2027, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe. Bishop John Noonan will preside as the main celebrant of this sacred liturgy as we gather in prayer for the protection of every human life. Together, we raise our hearts in intercession for an end to euthanasia, the death penalty, suicide, abortion, and all actions contrary to the God‑given dignity of the human person. As an offering in the mission to build a culture of life, we will also host a Diaper Drive during this event to support parishes with active Walking With Moms In Need ministries throughout the diocese that provide monthly diaper assistance to families in need. The day begins at 10:00 a.m. with a special guest speaker who will reflect on living the Gospel of Life in today’s world. At 11:15 a.m., we will gather for a bilingual Rosary and Adoration, followed by the celebration of Holy Mass at 12:00 p.m. After Mass, all are welcome to enjoy fellowship with food trucks and ministry exhibitor tables available on site. Everyone is warmly invited to come together for a special day of prayer, fellowship, and witness to the Gospel of Life! Catholic Days at the Capitol Join us for Catholic Days at the Capitol in Tallahassee — with the 2027 date to be announced. This two‑day gathering invites the faithful to embrace their call to faithful citizenship and to bring Catholic values into the public arena. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with lawmakers and advocate for the protection of life, the dignity of every person, and the common good.
